Not sure what this will mean for Galaxies, but Bioware and LucasArts are teaming up to produce a new MMO based on the Knights of the Old Republic lore.

The Press Release

Do we have any guildies still playing SWG?

Hmm yeah i heard about that... Bioware is actually decent at making RPGs, so it may turn out to be an interesting game.
Unless i missed it, they did not say "when", so i am gonna guess 2-3 years.

Oooooo. I wonder if you pick a side according to your actions instead of from the beginning.

watching the dev interviews, sounds like you have ongoing character development that affect your ongoing side/npc interactions.  lofty goals, hope they can pull it off.  will be watching this one closely

The Age of Conan dev said it recently in an interview.

Nobody reads quest text.  They just click the button, and wait for the reward.  Pavlov at its best.  Even with engaging story, and huge background of lore, folks just want the cookie.

I have my doubts that they will be able to even briefly engage folks in story such that they forget about the cookie you get when you pull the lever.

There are of course folks who care Smiley  but will it be 'enough'.

There is no doubt those guys can make a compelling single player game with deep story, but lets see them translate single player joy into an MMO fever.
