After you get past the cartoon feel of WoW, you find yourself admiring the smooth animations. The WoW artists put a lot of effort into making WoW move, if not realistically, at least gracefully.
When I look at other games, like EQ2, DnL, Matrix Online, etc everything feels very, very clunky. The rendering in EQ2 is fantastic. Suberb. BUt Things move like jerked around wireframes. Individual animations are pretty good, but the lead in, and exit of the animations is kinda harsh.
After playing so much WoW these deficiencies really show up in these other games.
*shrug* like I said I was not trying to convince you of anything, only providing something interesting to view. In my estimation EQ2 faaar outstrips WOW in both evironment AND detail. The animations seem about the same to me. I would only improve the EQ2 running animations, wow has some good moves there. Combat is a different storry.
I don't know, it didn't thrill me when I watched it this morning. The floating islands look nice, but I didn't see much interesting in the way of gameplay.
What kind of gameplay are you looking for? You never experienced any of the multi layered ring events in EQ2 that I know of? Have you seen the game since the combat revamp? Even at lvl 30 you were in the old system just getting into what it meant to be a swashy. In the new updates you get that total feel much earlier. You still have to hit the higher levels to get additional unique flavor abilities, but you need to have something dont ya?

Wow stopped given me new stuff at 30. I had pretty much everything and just got a new... rank of it. Nothing further defined me. Talents have minimal impact on characters. I did a total respec on my guy to vary the dmg I delt... I delt the exact same dmg I did before. Its all equipment based, spec played little to no part in the dmg I did.
The new expansion is adding Achievements. Think of them as Alternate advancement with flair. The trick with these is that you dont get alternate advancement by shifting your EXP to AA exp.. In order to gain additional AA levels, you have to gain exp in that system. Explore for exp, do quests for exp, take down special bosses or encounters. All these things advance your character now in ways more so than before. Instead of just saying ohh look i have done 300 quests, it actually HAS helped you. The AA's seem to be helpfull but they are "attempting" to make it so that there is no ONE mandatory AA or line of AA's. Tall order but I think they are making good progress in the beta.
PVP servers are coming in with this one... not a huge deal for me but I might try it out.
The dungeons in KOS apparently are on the large scale of places like GUK, huge non instanced dungeon crawls. There are also instance dungeons for X2 groups, so 12 people can take down challenges.
The encounters in even DOF have proven to be very challenging, not just from a brute force point of view. They take strategy and timing on the level of the WOW bosses in ZG and BWL/MC. I can only imagine the challenges that they have in store for the KOS bosses and dungeons.
I am having a blast, but hey thats just me

I group with 4-5 of the same folks every night, we add in additional people on varying occasions. Its casual and fun, and progress is obtainable. I am sad that we dont have 24 Trans logging into EQ2, but I will survive

Fileplanet is providng 30 days of FREE EQ2 and I honestly cant think of a better time to play EQ2. The newbie island no longer has a cap, the quests on the island are fun and interesting. Your character starts OUT as the type you want vs having artifical barriers the way they used to... Man I hated the class quests with a passion... especially on alts.
The map now shows open circles where quests begin and closed ones where quests finish, man I wish WOW had that working

The icons of the name are a deinfite take on WOW... but hey, if a cars working on Wheels,, I dont think you should use a square either? eh?
